Tá Coiste Glas bunaithe sa scoil don chéad uair i mbliana agus táimid ag tabhairt faoi Bhrat Glas a fháil don scoil. Tógann an próiséas seo dhá bhliain agus bíonn téamaí éagsúla chuile bhabhta. An téama don chéad iarratais ná Bruscar agus Athchúrsáil. Bhí an chéad chruinniú den Choiste Glas, faoi stiúir Múinteoir Orflaith agus Cúntóir Theresa sa scoil i Mí Dheireadh Fómhair 24 agus tá na baill anois ag tabhairt faoi fógraí cuí a chrochadh i chuile rang agus timpeall na scoile. Táimid ag díriú ar athchúrsáil cruinn a dhéanamh sna seomraí ranga ach go háirithe an leath-téarma seo. Comh maith le sin tá boscaí bruscar spesialta do duilleoga amháin sa charrclós d’éinne atá ag iarraidh málaí duilleoga a thabhairt ar scoil. Tá a fhios ag na páistí go mbíonn na duilleoga seo ag briseadh síos go cré théis tamaill agus is féidir linn an cré seo a úsaid i ngáirdín na scoile.
A Green Committee has been established in the school for the first time this year and we are in the process of applying for a Green Flag for the school. This process takes two years and each round has different themes. The theme for the first application is Rubbish and Recycling. The first meeting of the Green Committee, led by Múinteoir Orflaith and Cúntóir Theresa was held in the school in October 24 and the members
are now undertaking a project to provide appropriate notices in every class and around the school. We are focusing on accurate recycling in the classrooms, especially this half term. There are also special leaf-only bins in the car park for anyone who wants to bring bags of leaves to school. The children know that these leaves break down into clay after a while and we can use this clay in the school garden.
